Nicolas Muron, founder of MoonBikes.

With his 100% electric snowbike, Nicolas Muron is revolutionizing mobility in snowy environments. In one year, it has multiplied its turnover by ten and doubled its workforce.

By launching MoonBikes, Nicolas Muron reconciles his passions for mechanics and the mountain. In 2015, this engineer trained at Ensam (Paris) and Georgia Tech in the United States was on vacation in the small adopted village of his grandparents, Saint-Nicolas-de-Véroce, when he noticed that the mobility in snowy environments is limited, expensive and polluting.

325 MoonBikes sold and a presence in 16 countries

His reflections to find an alternative led him to leave the world of aeronautics to create his own company, Moonbikes Motors. Ultra-light, fast, silent, reliable and 100  % electric, his snowbike is assembled in Haute-Savoie by the Bosch Marignier factory. “ Our last financial year was very positive with sales multiplied by 10, 325 MoonBikes sold and a presence in 16 countries. We have recruited about twenty additional employees divided between the head office and our new office in the United States. It was also marked by  a fundraising of €4.5 million carried out in the summer of 2021 ”, recalls the 30-year-old.

Diversification of ranges

For next winter, the start-up will continue its expansion in already conquered territories such as Scandinavia and establish itself in new countries such as Japan. At the same time, it is working on diversifying its ranges and lowering its costs.

Its ambition is to achieve a turnover of  €50 million by the winter of 2024-2025 with a team of around fifty employees. “ Our snowbike currently falls under the legislation relating to snowmobiles, even though its environmental footprint is very low,” adds its founder. The evolution of this regulatory framework is an important issue for resorts wishing to offer greener activities to their customers. »
